Gateway Accounts

From smsPULSE 7.7 we have added a new gateway account type for use in the USA and Canada. The following accounts now exist in smsPULSE:

  1. International Accounts - the standard smsPULSE account as used prior to version 7.7 worldwide
  2. USA and Canada accounts - new from version 7.7
  3. QTEL Accounts - used by companies in the Middle East and the Gulf in particular

Please note that you cannot specify yourself which account is used. The account information is embedded in your license and must be set up by smsPULSE.com admin.

International Accounts
smsPULSE has offered this account type since its creation, and will continue to do so. Due to USA regulations you cannot use this account type to route SMS messages in the USA. If you need to send messages in the USA you will need to use the smsPULSE MM edition and attach a GSM device to your server. You can then easily configure smsPULSE to route all messages outside the USA using our gateway, and all USA messages using GSM.

Receiving SMS
In order to receive SMS you must use smsPULSE MM edition and attach a GSM device to your server. When sending messages using an International Account you may set the Sender ID to one of the SIM numbers in your GSM array. Users who receive messages from you simply hit "reply" and the message will arrive to your server, then be processed by smsROUTER.

During Evaluation
When you evaluate smsPULSE, the account type used is the International Account. To evaluate in the USA you must use a USA Account Type. See more below.

MMS under International Accounts
You must always use a GPRS modem if you want to send MMS. smsPULSE uses the MM1 protocol.

USA Accounts
smsPULSE offers new USA accounts which provide both high volume and high speed SMS delivery and virtual inbound numbers. You may also attach multiple numbers for a single account allowing for better management of inbound traffic. To receive SMS messages into smsPULSE, the server's HTTP task must be open to the web. Each message that is sent out is automatically tagged by one of the virtual numbers associated with your account. You can select your numbers from each US state. USA Accounts have the following properties:
  1. At least one virtual number is included with a USA Account
  2. A set-up and monthly charge applies to each account and virtual number (charged quarterly in advance)
  3. Credits used in the account do not expire. For organisations that consume credits regularly, there is an option to activate the account with expiring credits, at a lower cost
  4. smsPULSE MM must be purchased to facilitate inbound SMS and sending of SMS outside the USA
