Distributed Mode

From smsPULSE V7.5 the server can work in distributed processing mode. This configuration requires at least two replicating installations of smsPULSE. The configuration applies to both server versions of smsPULSE, the Windows and Domino servers. Each server requires a license.

Why use a distributed server architecture?

  1. You have a server which processes inbound messages as part of a work flow, but it cannot use attached devices (say a web server)
  2. You are using the HTTP API on a local host and do not wish to rely on SMTP email
  3. You wish to place your communications server where better reception is available
  4. You are running a cluster on virtual servers and your comms server is outside the cluster

Configuring Distribution
Please note that each server running in distributed setup must use a complete installation of smsPULSE. The process is as follows:
  1. Install smsPULSE on all participating servers
  2. Configure smsPULSE on one of the servers
  3. Shut all servers down
  4. Copy the data files from the configured server to the other servers
  5. Start all the servers
  6. Set-up a connection document where the Comms server is considered the Hub
  7. Port 1352 must be open, both ways, on the respective networks

To specify servers, open the system profile and fill in the names of the servers, as follows:

Connecting the servers
If you are using the smsPULSE for Windows server, you will need to use the Web Admin client to create connection documents for the servers.
When you use the Domino server use the Administration client to create connection documents for the servers.
